Consensus
If you can get past the fact that Rage reminds you of Borderlands and Fallout, Rage is a great game for anyone who likes RPG or FPS games.

I was once a disbeliever in this epic title, but I now feel ashamed of myself for how little attention I gave it. RAGE is a must buy for any FPS fan, and what it offers is unlike anything else you’ve played in years....Go To Full Review

RAGE doesn’t really do anything new. I’ll repeat that for those who are looking for the innovative and revolutionary. But what it does do is pretty damn incredible....Go To Full Review

Rage is the complete package that fans of shooters, RPGs, and buggy racers have been waiting for. Combined with its jaw-dropping visual presentation, Rage easily one of the best games of the year....Go To Full Review

Generally you'll find that RAGE runs at very smooth frame rates on nearly any PC that can play modern games, but the lack of nearly anything in the way of detail settings (beyond choosing resolution and antialiasing settings - no vsync, no overall texture quality choices) means that the game gets to choose how to run things, and you may not quite like the decisions that get made....Go To Full Review

RAGE is a polished and frenetic first-person shooter, with some well-designed racing and vehicular combat mechanics. It's fast, furious and a heck of a lot of fun....Go To Full Review

Rage is an extraordinary solo and multiplayer adventure that surely won't disappoint demanding gamers. There's a lot riding on this game - given id Software's reputation, not to mention how long it took to release this game - but they've managed to pull it off with style, speed and intensity....Go To Full Review

Despite the painfully unoriginal setting, Rage saves itself simply by being an enjoyable FPS from a developer that knows their way around them....Go To Full Review

Rage is a great experience that’s coupled with some intensely fun gunplay and some incredibly impressive graphics. It's not quite the Borderlands meets Fallout experience that gamers were expecting. It isn't very long, and it does skimp out on character development, but it focuses more on what id knows best--shooting things in the face. This is one post-apocalyptic wasteland that you’ll definitely want to venture into....Go To Full Review

While RAGE does have some issues here and there you can rest assure that it does deliver in the end. It has a solid mix of good first-person shooting action, fun driving moments, and solid multiplayer modes. Add to all of this the fact that you're seeing one of the more gorgeous games produced in this generation, and it's a tough deal to pass up....Go To Full Review

Rage is going to sell by the bucketload due to its remarkable lineage, and there will be armies of fans who will defend it to the bitter end, no matter whether they enjoyed it or not. But for those who will listen: Rage is flawed from the get-go, and by the time it finds its legs, its all too little, too late. ...Go To Full Review

At its heart, Rage is a single-player game and, given Id's historical status in multiplayer design, a daring one. The accomplishments in Rage are manifold but just don't carry through to the game's conclusion....Go To Full Review

Rage is a solid experience but it shames me to say that the game is not as true to id Software’s legacy. While the development of a new engine is an almost adequate excuse for the game’s shortcomings it doesn’t make up for them. You will enjoy Rage for what it delivers on the singleplayer front, but those looking for fun with friends should hold off to see what the game’s DLC is like. ...Go To Full Review

Rage is a really good game. In fact, it’s one really good shooter, a decent (if very simplistic) racer and a competent car combat game, all in the one package. The way it ties several disparate elements together into one believable, if a little generic, game world is almost seamless and the gunplay is exceptionally good....Go To Full Review

Rage is many things: open-world driving and racing game, meticulously designed first-person shooter, stunning realization of a living post-apocalyptic wasteland, and it does all of these things well. I certainly think Rage is a technically impressive experience. And the whole shooting side of Rage is absolutely great. But all the other content left me pretty cold on the experience, and just feels half-finished to me. Hopefully there will be some interesting DLC that comes along soon, but as it stands right now, I'd definitely suggest trying before you buy with Rage. ...Go To Full Review

RAGE is fast food, the kind of fast food that looks much more satisfying on the menu than it does once served. It's tasty, for sure, but you'll be starving almost as soon as you've finished. By no means is RAGE not worth your time -- it looks stunning, the combat on both wheels and foot is fun, and there's a tremendous sense of atmosphere that deserves to be experienced....Go To Full Review
